Apify Doing Good connects our web scraping expertise with volunteer energy to boost non-profit impact and create meaningful change. As the Ambassador for this initiative, I'm excited to share with you how Apifiers are programming positive change for organizations and causes that need it most.
A big part of Apify Doing Good is using our skills to help non-profits and NGOs automate tedious tasks so they can focus their energy on core missions. In addition to tech solutions, we love to roll up our sleeves for fun, hands-on projects like planting trees, teaching coding workshops, and volunteering in our communities.
In this article, we’ll share some of the work for social good that our team is doing. Whether you’re an Apifier, thinking about joining us, or just curious about what we’re up to, come along for a look at how we’re trying to make a difference. Impact from the start
When mission matters more than margins, we step up. That's why Apify offers substantial discounts to charities, non-profits, and NGOs.
One of our first partners was Spotlight, an incredible tool that helps law enforcement fight sex trafficking. Our team uses web scraping to gather data from across the internet, which Spotlight uses to rescue kids in danger. The result? Over 6 million files of child abuse material have been flagged for removal, stopping re-victimization. It’s work that makes every Apifier proud.
Why doing good feels so right
Seeing the smiles, gratitude, and high-fives from the people and organizations we help is the real reward of our work. It shows us that even a small team can make a big splash. When we support meaningful causes, something special happens in our teams, too. Apifiers pick up new skills, grow closer through shared goals, and feel the joy of working with some awesome organizations, making every effort truly rewarding!
Digital skills, real-world results
As web scraping experts, we love using our tech skills to help non-profits shine. Here are a few of the projects that we’re proud to be a part of:
- Czechitas: An incredible organization based in Prague that helps women and young people develop digital skills through accessible tech education and training programs. We’ve been working with Czechitas since Apify’s early days, teaching web scraping, mentoring students, and sharing data for projects. An awesome part? Seven Czechitas grads have joined our team, bringing their talent and energy to Apify. Check out our blog post to learn more about how Czechitas and Apify are opening the world of tech to women and youth.
- PyCon Namibia: We were thrilled to sponsor the tenth anniversary of PyCon Namibia, an annual conference organized entirely by volunteers to bring Python training and inspiration to Namibia (and the Pan African Python community). At the 2025 event, more than 150 participants from towns across Namibia and over 10 other countries came together in Windhoek. The conference was split into several tracks, including Django Day, which welcomed over 50 women, and a special educational day for high school and university students, reaching more than 70 students from local schools and communities.
The main conference included hands-on workshops, hackathons, talks, and great networking opportunities. Two Apifiers, including myself, traveled to Namibia to give talks, run workshops, and mentor students, many of whom were learning programming for the first time! We came back inspired by the talent, curiosity, and determination in Namibia’s growing tech community. It was also an amazing chance to visit such a beautiful country and meet its wonderful people. - Hlidac Statu: Government transparency matters, and this organization monitors Czech public funds, analyzing contracts, procurement, subsidies, and political financing - keeping government spending open to the public. Apify provides web scraping expertise to keep its data fresh and accessible, so that the government stays accountable.
- Hlidac Shopu: Since 2017, this project has been catching sneaky or fake discounts in Czech e-shops. We track prices around Black Friday-style events, creating dashboards that show what’s real and what’s not. Shoppers use our tools to make smart choices, journalists rely on our data for stories, and, here’s the fun part, some shops have started pricing more honestly because of us! This work even inspired an EU-wide shop-monitoring project. That’s a big win!

Beyond code: Rolling up our sleeves
While we love our keyboards at Apify, sometimes doing good means trading them for shovels and spades! This March, we held our first group volunteer day, gardening with Cesta domů, a home hospice and counseling center for terminally ill people and their families. It was a great day with a lot of laughing and bonding, and we’re already planning more.
This group volunteering is just one way we put our values into action. At Apify, everyone gets one day per month for social impact work - whether it’s at one of our organized events, our in-house hackathons for NGOs, or a cause close to each Apifier’s heart. It’s a chance to work on a cause that’s exciting and personal - and it’s just another way we make doing good part of our culture.
We maintain momentum through ongoing programs like donating clothes to Nadace Moment (Moment Foundation), an environmental organization fighting textile waste. We're also proud to provide supplies for Kuchařky bez domova (Cooks Without Homes), which helps women experiencing homelessness gain stability and skills through cooking and catering programs. As a Prague-based company, we were deeply concerned when the tragic war broke out in our neighbor, Ukraine - Apifiers quickly rallied with donations to People in Need, with the company matching every contribution.
Dreaming big for the future
We're always looking for new ways to make a difference, beyond our business goals. We're exploring a dedicated budget for social good projects and forming cross-functional teams to bring ideas to life. Whether it's sales spotting an opportunity, engineering building the tools, or marketing spreading the word, every Apifier can jump in and help.
At Apify, we believe that technology should be a force for good and that even small actions can create meaningful change when we work together. For Apifiers, doing good is deeply rooted, and we're excited about the possibilities ahead.
