We’ve launched the largest upgrade to Apify actors so far. First, we’ve added an option to provide actors with an automatically-generated user interface to enter their input configuration. Second, you can now save the input configuration of an actor as a task that can be reused later.
We’ve released the Apify SDK — an open-source Node.js library for scraping and web crawling. There was one for Python, but until now, there was no such library for JavaScript, THE language of the web.
We have released a new open-source package called proxy-chain on NPM to enable running headless Chrome and Puppeteer over a proxy server that requires authentication.
Today we are launching the largest upgrade of Apifier to date —a new product called Actor together with a complete redesign of the website. Oh, and Apifier has been renamed to Apify! Note that all existing crawlers are safe and sound — nothing has changed for them.
Application programmable interface (API) is one of the core components of Apifier. Heck, “API” is even in our company name as we are helping people to APIfy the web.
It’s exactly one year today since we launched Apifier, so we thought this was a great opportunity to share what we’ve been up to in the last 12 months.
